Solo Traveler to Nepal for 2 weeks

Solo Traveler to Nepal for 2 weeks

I’m traveling solo to Nepal for 2 weeks end December – beginning January. Looking for connections and suggestions: where to stay to meet nice travelers, yoga retreats, short EBC, what to visit, how to move around

if you are only in for 2 weeks, EBC trek – unless you are considering a heli tour/trek – will take up at least 10 days of your trip. Still worth it, but probably need to reassess your other travel goals.
You can do other 5-7 day treks so that you have time for yoga retreat and exploring other cities/villages.

2 weeks! It works perfectly! Kathmandu-Pokhara-Annapurna Base Camp/Mardi Himal – Kurintar!

Kurintar
Kurintar is a small village on the Trisuli River on the way to Chitwan from Katmandu. It is perfect for travelers who want a few peaceful days off the beaten path reading by the pool, walking through remote villages, touring and tasting beers at the Barasinghe Brewery, river rafting, or exploring the Manakamana Temple cable car.

Pokhara:
Pokhara is a beautiful and easy to navigate Nepalese city on the Phewa Lake bordered by the Annapurna Range. Trekkers bound for the Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Base Camp, and Mardi Himal treks base here. Plan to spend a few days exploring the sites, preparing for a trek, or celebrating after. In town enjoy coffee shops, shopping, restaurants, and massage and out of town top sites include a boat ride and hike to Shanti Temple (Temple of Peace), sunrise hike up Sarangkot Hill for an inspiring view of the surrounding Himalayas, and hike to Devil’s Fall. Pokhara is also known for its paragliding, Tibetan population, market, and influence, and yoga retreats.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek
The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) hits all the marks of a greet Himalayan trek taking trekkers through the jungle, remote villages, high-alpine terrain and to the basin at the base of the impossibly spectacular Annapurna Range. Trekkers will base out of Pokhara and should spend a few days exploring the temples, coffee shops, restaurants, and cultural sites there. The actual ABC trek can be anywhere from six to eleven days depending on where you start and end and how fast or slow you want to go.

All routes take trekkers through traditional villages that provide abundant clean tea houses to eat and sleep. A recommended route starts in the village of Ulleri and takes trekkers on a small part of the Annapurna Circuit to Ghorepani and up Poon Hill for the sunrise, and through the villages of Ghodepani, Todapani and Chomrang. In these first few days, trekkers weave through jungle terrain, along pristine rivers, below gushing waterfalls, up and down endless steps, and through burgeoning villages.
From Chomrang, a noticeable ascent begins and the topography changes to high-alpine valleys with views of towering Himalayan, snow-packed peaks. Between Chomrang and Annnapurna Base Camp (ABC), trekkers will hike through five villages and typically spend two days working their way from Chomping up the valley to ABC. Once there, at 4,130 meters, they can bask in the beauty, peace, and humility of the Annapurna glacial moraine and high peaks of Annapurna I and II.

Trekkers will take the same route down from ABC until Chomrang. They can then diverge from the route they took on the way up, continuing to descend to the village of Jhinu where they can rest, celebrate, and soak in the natural hot springs. Transport back to Katmandu can be arranged a short hike away in New Bridge, Siwai, or Kyumi.
