Is it necessary to have a big bag if you have porters?

I keep seeing people carry big bags on pictures that are in group tours but I’m wondering is it necessary to have a big bag if you have porters carrying everything for you, if so what do you have in the hiking bag?

Porter will possibly go ahead with your bag. Day pack should have what you need for day such as water, extra clothing depending on weather, medications if required, hat/beanie, gloves, snacks, basic first aid like blister tape, spare boot laces, power bank, camera or phone. Also if you start in the cold and take off layers as you warm up, you can put those layers in pack.

Why would you as you say ,you just need the basics for the days walk snacks and fluids in our group lunch was provided at the tea house and we were able to top up our fluid supply .the only other things were change of clothes if it got cold or wet and toilet kit
They were great out porters always had plenty of hand gel so no one had any problems have a great time .

I just carry my own gear, I trained hard for a year with up to 35 kg (as in NZ we only have hills where I live) – then when I went to Nepal I took 12kg which I carried around each time I went for 2 months (stopping where I wanted for as long as I required) – been to EBC two times, ABC and circuit three times as well as other walks in less well known areas.
