Need some advice…great places to eat in Kathmandu. Will be there a few days before heading to EBC. Want to experience great local food and any other places I should eat at.

I have a favourite little restaurant I always go to. Little two story rickety place…right in the Paknajol junction…opposite a dance studio. Wish I knew the name. Go the Paknajol junction …bottom of the road…and look for a little restaurant with some wooden windows on the second floor. It’s 5 mins walk from Thamel. Last time it was painted white and blue.
To be honest, I’ve been 2 weeks in Nepal until now, staying other 2 weeks. The food is great everywhere.
There’s a really good sandwich shop in Thamel if you want to get back to basics for lunch sometime. Check out “sandwich point soda bar”
My advice is to play it safe before your trek. You don’t want to end up with a stomach bug before your trek. Flavors Cafe at the Stupa in Boudha is very safe. They wash everything in filtered water. For momo, I always go to the Friendship cafe which is also near the Stupa.
There’s a good little coffee shop and sandwich shop in Freak street off Durbar Square
Dechenling Restaurant for Tibetan and Bhutanese cuisine
I really enjoyed the Scottish food in Kathmandu… McDonald’s. But seriously, I just chowed down on great street food whenever I had the chance.
Try and find a cafe with a roof terrace for breakfast. Lots of them
Patan would be really great place to explore Newari local food , and it’s really good place surrounding with museum monuments and cultural heritage
Utse Restaurant,
New Orleans,
Road House,
Restaurant or coffee shop in the Garden of Dreams,
Himalayan Java upstairs in Tridevi Marg,
Fire and Ice,
Gaia Restaurant,
Kaiser cafe,
Wiezen bakery
All in Thamel
