Questions about Trek from Pokhara to Mardi Himal
Starting a trek from Pokhara beginning of Feb!
Few questions came up:1) Is it enough one full day (Sunday) to rent all the extra equipment(sleeping bag, poles etc.) and get permits?2) Can I get trekking permits for Mardi Himal in Kathmandu? I am still to put my final points for the trek, but I think info here would be most updated
3) Which permits do I need for Mardi Himal?4) Do I need/recommended to get to starting point a day before to start in the morning?5) Anyone has trekked Mardi recently, do we need CRAMPONS?

1) Is it enough one full day (Sunday) to rent all the extra equipment(sleeping bag, poles etc.) and get permits?
Ans: Yes, it’s quite enough time to rent all these equipment within few hrs. You can get it in one shop. And there are too many Trekking shops in Thamel area, Kathmandu. Possibly just few mins walk from you hotel.
2) Can I get trekking permits for Mardi Himal in Kathmandu?
Ans: Yes, you can obtain it from Kathmandu. Nepal Tourism Board Building, Bhrikutimandap- 15mins walk from Thamel.
I am still to put my final points for the trek, but I think info here would be most updated
3) Which permits do I need for Mardi Himal?
Ans: You’ll need ACAP Permit (3000rupee) & TIMS card (TIMS card now barely checking in annapurna region).
4) Do I need/recommended to get to starting point a day before to start in the morning?
Ans: You can drive there in the same day and start your hike. You can drive to Kande and start to hike. You also can start from Phedi or Dhampus if you got plenty of time. From Phedi would be approx. 3hrs more walk than from Kande.
5) Anyone has trekked Mardi recently, do we need CRAMPONS?
Ans: We had a group last week. They completed it happily and were glad with the clear weather and no snow. So, at this moment you don’t need a crampon/ spike yet.
